Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Boston, MA, is seeking an experienced Post-Grant Proceedings Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of post-law school experience and possess strong legal and technical expertise in patent law. This position involves working with a dynamic team on complex patent invalidity analyses, preparing legal arguments, collaborating with experts, and engaging in oral advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Duties:
Perform patent invalidity analysis and research prior art
Draft petitions for Inter Partes Review (IPR) and Post-Grant Review (PGR), including legal and technical briefs
Collaborate with technical experts to prepare expert testimony
Conduct and defend expert depositions
Provide oral advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
2-5 years of post-law school experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well in collaborative team environments
Admitted to or eligible for admission in Massachusetts, New York, or Washington, DC
Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to practice in Massachusetts, New York, or Washington, DC (required)
Admission to practice before the USPTO (preferred)
Skills:
Proficient in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings
Strong analytical and research skills, particularly related to patent invalidity
Excellent oral and written communication
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
