Lateral Litigation Partner

Profile

A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Lateral Litigation Partner with a substantial and portable book of business, ideally $1.5M or more. The firm is looking for a candidate who can leverage its strong team of skilled litigators at both the partner and associate levels to expand their own practice. This is an ideal opportunity for a partner who may not be fully supported at their current firm and is looking for a dynamic environment to grow their client base. The firm offers excellent opportunities for growth, particularly in the areas of entertainment litigation (excluding representation of major studios/streamers), class action defense, private wealth disputes, music litigation, and corporate/business litigation. Candidates with first-chair trial and arbitration experience are highly desired. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a substantial litigation practice, leveraging the firm’s strong team of litigators to support and expand client engagements.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, particularly with institutional clients and repeat business players.
• Represent clients in complex litigation matters, including but not limited to, entertainment litigation, class action defense, private wealth disputes, music litigation, and corporate/business litigation.
• Provide first-chair representation in trials and arbitrations, offering strategic legal counsel and leading litigation teams.
• Collaborate with the firm’s other partners and associates to ensure the successful execution of litigation strategies and business development initiatives.
• Mentor and guide junior attorneys, fostering their professional development and contributing to the firm’s culture of excellence.
• Engage in business development efforts to further grow the firm’s litigation practice, leveraging existing relationships and identifying new opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in litigation, with a proven track record of representing institutional clients or other repeat players.
• A portable book of business valued at $1.5M or more is highly preferred.
• Strong experience in one or more of the following areas: entertainment litigation, class action defense, private wealth disputes, music litigation, or corporate/business litigation.
• First-chair trial and arbitration experience is a significant advantage.
• Proven success in managing and growing a litigation practice, with demonstrated leadership and client relationship management skills.
• Prior experience in a leadership role within a law firm is highly desirable.

Educational Background:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.

Certifications:

• Additional certifications in specialized areas of litigation (such as arbitration or mediation) are advantageous but not required.
• Ongoing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) focused on litigation practice and client management is preferred.
