A law firm seeks a Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team in Shelton, CT. This full-time position involves handling a criminal defense caseload across Fairfield and New Haven Counties. The role offers limited hybrid work flexibility and requires residency in either Fairfield or New Haven County.

Duties

• Serve under the direction of a senior paralegal managing client assignments.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients using approved systems.
• Keep accurate file notes in accordance with firm protocols.
• Appear in court for arraignments, pretrials, motions, and other proceedings.
• Conduct legal research and draft and file motions as necessary.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a seamless client experience.

Requirements

• Active Bar member in good standing with no disciplinary history.
• Residency in Connecticut required.
• Demonstrated adaptability in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Comfortable working independently with team support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable transportation; mileage reimbursement provided.
• Comfortable using Macs and legal research tools.
• 1-20 years of experience preferred; new attorneys will be trained.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

• Active Bar membership in Connecticut.
