Job Overview:
A well-established law firm located in Phoenix, AZ, is currently seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Coverage Attorney. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling various court appearances and conducting police/witness interviews. This is a full-time, office-based position, with a Monday through Friday workweek from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The firm is known for its commitment to high-quality defense and a strong presence both in the courtroom and in the office.

Duties:

• Attend standard court hearings, including Initial Appearances, Arraignments, Pre-Trial Conferences, Discovery and Plea Offer Pick-up, Status Conferences, etc.
• Present arguments in motion hearings and evidentiary hearings, such as Motions to Continue, Motions to Compel Discovery, Motions for Deposition, Probation Violation Disposition Hearings, Mitigation Hearings, Sentencings, and MVD Administrative Hearings for DUI cases.
• Conduct witness interviews at police stations, prosecutor offices, and in the firm’s office.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a criminal defense attorney.
• Strong courtroom presence and ability to handle multiple court appearances.
• Ability to conduct thorough interviews and investigations with witnesses and law enforcement.
• Comfortable working in a structured, office-based environment with a focus on court-related duties.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Arizona.

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
• Strong negotiation and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism.
• Proficient in using legal research databases and case management software.
