A law firm based in Greenwich, CT, is seeking a Patent Agent with specialized experience in the life sciences sector. The position involves hands-on responsibility for a diverse range of intellectual property work, primarily focused on protecting innovations in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Duties

• Assess innovations for patent eligibility across diverse scientific fields

• Draft, file, and manage U.S. patent applications from inception to allowance

• Oversee prosecution processes, including communication with international associates

• Contribute to IP due diligence reviews for licensing, partnerships, or acquisitions

• Assist in developing long-term strategies for managing and leveraging patent portfolios

• Perform in-depth research and provide insight into complex patent and technical matters

• Engage regularly with attorneys, technical staff, and external partners to align on IP strategy

• Coordinate cross-functional efforts on legal projects involving innovation management

Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in patent prosecution, either at a law firm or in-house

• Direct experience with IP related to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices

• Demonstrated ability to analyze scientific disclosures and communicate findings clearly

• Exposure to additional technical domains, such as mechanical or electrical technologies,s is beneficial

Education

• Doctorate (Ph.D.) in a life sciences-related discipline such as molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field

Certifications

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (or eligible to sit for the Patent Bar shortly)
