Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm, specializing in intellectual property law, is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney or Agent with a chemistry background. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, drafting and prosecuting patent applications globally. A unique requirement for this position is fluency in Korean, to facilitate effective communication with Korean-speaking clients.

Duties:

• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications across a variety of chemistry-related fields, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science.
• Manage global patent portfolios for clients, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
• Work closely with clients to provide strategic advice and counsel on patent-related matters.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop patent strategies that align with client business goals.
• Represent clients in patent disputes and litigation, where applicable.
• Provide technical expertise and legal analysis in patent matters to both clients and internal teams.
• Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high-quality client service.

Requirements:

• A degree in chemistry, preferably a Ph.D. or Master’s.
• 2+ years of experience in patent law, with a focus on chemistry, is preferred.
• U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration (attorney or agent) is required.
• Fluency in Korean is required to communicate with Korean-speaking clients.
• Proven experience in global patent prosecution and drafting.
• Strong technical background, with a specialization in organic chemistry being a plus.

Education:

• A bachelor's degree in Chemistry is required; a Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry is highly preferred.

Certifications:

• U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration as a Patent Attorney or Agent is mandatory.

Skills:

• Expertise in patent prosecution and drafting in the field of chemistry.
• Ability to handle complex technical and legal issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in Korean.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in team settings, managing multiple projects.
