Associate Attorney
The candidate will provide legal consultation, counseling and legal representation to a variety of firm clients in connection with complex civil litigation matters, including cases involving construction, real estate, and tort disputes; Conducting legal research regarding statutory and case law, and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations; Analyze legal authority in order to determine likely possible outcomes for various matters; Draft motions, briefs, status reports, and other legal documents for submission in state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations; Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of case strategy including advising clients on probable case outcomes based on facts, case law and other precedents; Updating clients on case developments; Communicating and negotiating with opposing counsel; Communicate with staff for Florida and federal judges and arbitrators; Managing and overseeing the review of projects involving the review and production of voluminous documents; Conducting discovery and motion practice, including taking and defending depositions; Assist in all phases of trial preparation, including (without limitation) the preparation of exhibits, witness examinations, jury instructions, and case theories; Work closely with expert witnesses; Making appearances and arguments in Florida and federal courts; Working closely with other attorneys and Partners on matters; Conducting due diligence investigations; Maintaining business and client relationships on behalf of the Firm, assisting with firm business development efforts, and directing and managing legal assistants, paralegals and other staff. Requires 10 to 15% of domestic travel. Juris Doctor, LLM, or foreign equivalent. Must have 2 years of experience as an Attorney/Associate, Foreign Legal Consultant, Law Clerk, in the litigation field or related occupation. Complex litigation matters; developing arguments and drafting complex motions and briefs including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, daubert motions, and mediation briefs; managing various discovery processes including drafting and responding to discovery requests, drafting affirmative discovery, managing voluminous document and eDiscovery review projects, and preparing privilege logs; taking and defending depositions, preparing clients and witness for deposition; and, appearing for and handling hearings. Must be admitted as State of Florida licensed attorney.
