The candidate's duties include: Directs and supervises legal representa­tion by attorneys; provides individual representation; formulates policy; develops procedures; supervises staff; evaluates total legal assistance per­formance; develops and maintains department budget; makes recommendations for disposition of indigent cases; approves expenditures on the defence of indi­vidual cases; serves on various criminal justice committees; assists judges in policy decisions. Should have Juris Doctorate (JD) degree; seven (7) years of experience as a practicing attorney AND extensive trial experience in a leading role in complex criminal or civil cases; two (2) years of supervisory experience. Must be admitted to practice law and be in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona and a resident of Cochise County at the time of application or anticipated start date. Must remain active with all Arizona Bar annual requirements, maintain a valid Arizona driver's license, maintain a clear criminal record and comply with the duties and obligations stated in ARS 11-584.
