Job Title: Insurance Coverage Attorney - Hybrid

Job Overview:
A law firm based in New York City, NY is seeking a skilled attorney with a strong background in insurance coverage litigation to support its expanding insurance practice. This role is ideal for an individual with solid litigation capabilities, particularly in analyzing complex coverage issues and handling all phases of coverage litigation. The opportunity includes significant involvement in high-stakes matters related to casualty and specialty lines such as commercial general liability, professional liability, intellectual property, and builder's risk. The position allows for hybrid work flexibility and provides mentorship, professional development resources, and access to a collaborative legal team.

Duties:

• Provide detailed coverage assessments and legal advice across various insurance products, including casualty and specialty lines

• Draft comprehensive coverage opinions, position letters, and related litigation documents

• Prepare and argue dispositive motions in both state and federal court

• Manage discovery processes, including document review, interrogatories, and requests for admission

• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Represent clients in court conferences, hearings, and motion arguments

• Collaborate closely with partners and associates on case strategy and client communication

• Contribute to business development and participate in ongoing legal education initiatives

Requirements:

• Insurance coverage litigation experience

• Strong legal writing and analytical skills

• Proficiency in managing litigation timelines, deadlines, and filings

• Experience in motion practice, discovery, and courtroom advocacy

• Familiarity with specialty lines such as professional liability or builder’s risk preferred

• Admitted to practice in New York and good standing

• Admission in other jurisdictions is considered an asset

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in New York (required)

• Additional state admissions (preferred but not required)

Skills:

• Exceptional legal research and writing proficiency

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and court interactions

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team

• Familiarity with case management systems and legal research tools
