Duties

• Gather medical evidence and records.
• Take depositions of claimants, physicians, and experts.
• Conduct discovery and perform legal research.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Litigate cases before a workers' compensation judge.
• Represent employer or insurer interests at hearings and mediations.
• Communicate with claims representatives.
• Monitor loss run reports and alert management to concerns.
• Assist in accident investigations and manage costs.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company.

Requirements

• J.D. and passing the Nebraska bar exam; Iowa bar a plus.
• Proven experience in Workers' Compensation defense; General Liability experience a plus.
• Knowledge of legal principles and practices.
• Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws.
• Confidentiality required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Certifications

• Admission to the Nebraska State Bar
