The candidate will create, format, proofread, and edit drafts of documents including administrative correspondence and all forms of litigation documents. Schedule and reserve dates for hearings with California Family Court. Format and prepare documents for filing, including Table of Contents and Table of Authorities, and files and serves legal documents in State Courts. Maintain attorney calendars; schedules conferences and meetings; schedules, calculates, records and monitors all court appearance dates and associated deadlines; calendars depositions and discovery deadlines. Arrange court reporters for hearings and depositions. Profile documents into NetDocs and calendaring in ProLaw. Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices. Open and close matters promptly and in accordance with firm policies and procedure. Maintain client and administrative file in accordance with firm policies and procedures. Assist with other duties as assigned. Monitor and communicate with clients and associate attorneys regarding the status of receivables. Review and approve vendor invoices. Determine when additional retainers are appropriate and contact clients to request the same. Sort, process, scan and file mail for attorneys. Copy & scan letters to clients as necessary and determine next steps based on the content of incoming correspondence. Should have 2+ years’ experience as a family law legal secretary.
