Consumer Finance Special Counsel

Profile

A law firm in Tallahassee is seeking a Consumer Finance Special Counsel. The candidate will primarily engage in regulatory counseling and drafting pertaining to federal and state consumer lending laws. This includes extensive experience in advising financial institutions on compliance matters, drafting contracts, and interpreting licensing requirements. A solid understanding of consumer finance laws, particularly the Fair Credit Reporting Act, is highly preferred.

Duties:

• Provide regulatory counseling and drafting services primarily related to federal and state consumer lending laws.
• Advise on compliance with regulations such as the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
• Draft contracts and lending documents for both consumer and commercial purposes.
• Interpret licensing requirements and ensure compliance for financial institutions.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide guidance to clients accordingly.
• Conduct thorough research on consumer finance laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active member of the Bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant regulatory experience.
• Significant experience in consumer finance, including advising both bank and non-bank financial institutions.
• Proficiency in negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulatory interpretation.
• Specific experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act highly preferred.

Education and Certifications:

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction.
