A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Natural Resources Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of relevant experience to join its California-based offices. The ideal candidate will have exposure to both state and federal natural resources law, including litigation, regulatory compliance, permitting, and public agency work. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact environmental and infrastructure matters while collaborating with experienced legal professionals across multiple offices.

Represent clients in natural resources litigation and administrative proceedings
Advise on strategic water supply planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance
Assist with groundwater rights adjudications and water utility-related legal matters
Provide counsel on CEQA and NEPA compliance
Draft and review legal documents, including memoranda, regulatory filings, and transactional documents
Navigate federal, state, and local permitting processes for infrastructure and water projects
Collaborate with public agencies on issues including Propositions 26 and 218
Conduct legal research, prepare legal analyses, and present findings to clients and teams
1–5 years of experience in natural resources, environmental, or public agency law
Background in litigation, administrative law, or infrastructure permitting
Knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and California water law strongly preferred
Ability to work on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal and client management skills
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance required
Admission to the California State Bar preferred (or ability to become admitted in a timely manner)
Excellent legal writing and research capabilities
Strong public speaking and analytical abilities
Effective time management and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and public agencies
Attention to detail and commitment to quality legal work
