Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney with a minimum of five years of focused experience in employee benefits and ERISA matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on a range of benefits-related legal issues, including plan design and compliance, executive compensation, fiduciary risk, and regulatory investigations. This position is ideal for attorneys who thrive in a dynamic legal environment and possess strong technical knowledge in benefits law.

Duties:
Advise clients on qualified retirement plan design and compliance
Provide counsel on executive compensation and nonqualified deferred compensation under Section 409A
Counsel clients on health and welfare plan requirements, including Affordable Care Act compliance
Draft and review benefit plan documents and related agreements
Guide clients through fiduciary duties and risk management under ERISA
Represent clients in ERISA claims and dispute resolution
Manage governmental audits and investigations involving the Department of Labor (DOL), IRS, and other agencies
Advise on benefits-related issues in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee benefits and ERISA law
Substantive experience with retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, and executive compensation
Prior experience representing plan sponsors, fiduciaries, and service providers
Ability to manage multiple clients and complex benefit issues independently
Strong understanding of applicable federal statutes and regulations
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
Admission to the bar in the firm’s jurisdiction preferred or willingness to become admitted
Skills:
Deep knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, ACA, and other applicable laws
Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
Strong client service orientation and problem-solving ability
High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
