Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced International Trade Attorney to join its team, with a focus on corporate transactions and international trade compliance. This role involves advising clients on U.S. import/export control laws, handling regulatory compliance, and navigating complex trade matters. The position offers an opportunity to work on high-profile international trade cases and corporate transactions in a dynamic and growing practice.

Location:

• Lansing, Michigan.

Duties:

• Advise clients on regulatory issues, focusing on U.S. import/export control laws, tariff classifications, and customs compliance
• Manage compliance with trade preference programs (e.g., USMCA/NAFTA), antidumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD), and Section 301 matters
• Handle transactions involving controlled technologies and international trade regulations
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support client regulatory compliance
• Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize legal documents related to international trade and corporate transactions
• Represent clients in regulatory matters, including securing necessary licenses and approvals
• Stay informed on international trade laws and provide guidance on emerging regulatory challenges

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate transactions with a focus on international trade regulation
• Proficiency with trade preference programs (e.g., USMCA, AD/CVD, Section 301) and trade remedy applications
• Strong knowledge of U.S. import and export regulations, including ITAR, EAR, CFIUS, and OFAC Sanctions Programs (preferred)
• Licensed and in good standing in Michigan.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active law license in Michigan.
