Duties

• Advise clients on estate planning, trust administration, estate administration, and related tax audits.

• Draft wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, business succession instruments, and charitable giving documents.

• Assist executors and trustees with inventories, asset valuations, accountings, and distributions under governing documents.

• Handle estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters.

• Maintain client relationships by providing ongoing support and updates throughout the planning and administration process.

• Review and oversee the work product of associates and paralegals.

Requirements

• Minimum of eight years of experience in a law firm’s trust and estates group.

• Proven experience preparing and auditing estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax returns.

• Excellent judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.

• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and mentor junior team members.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and membership in the New York Bar.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Aderant Expert Time (or similar timekeeping software).
