Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced Patent Engineer, Scientist, or Agent to join their team in Waukesha, WI. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, particularly in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing, virtual/augmented reality, and microscopy systems. This role involves patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management, with opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications.
• Manage and develop client patent portfolios.
• Conduct patent analysis and provide opinions of counsel.
• Support Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings.
• Stay current with changes in patent law and practices.
• Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and team members on patent-related matters.
• Provide technical expertise in various fields, including optics, acoustics, and virtual/augmented reality.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2+ years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a law firm or in-house.
• Demonstrated experience in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, microscopy systems, and imaging techniques.
• Experience in software and AI is a plus.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical Engineering (with an electrical or software focus).
• Graduate-level experience or an advanced technical degree is a plus.
• Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus.
• Admission to the USPTO is a plus.

• USPTO registration is a significant advantage.
