Pro Bono Counsel
The candidate will manage the firm's Communities of Change Pro Bono Initiative focused on minority-owned businesses to bring about positive change in the US with respect to racism. Will create community partnerships with nonprofits and community groups to identify new pro bono projects focused on minority-owned business opportunities available for engagement across the firm's national footprint. Assist minority-owned business and entrepreneurs with various legal needs including corporate structure and operational support, securing government contracts, and creating banking relationships to connect the clients undertaken under this Initiative with venture capital opportunities. Meet with relevant stakeholder groups within and outside the firm to gather information and input regarding projects to be undertaken under this Initiative. Recruit firm attorneys to accept pro bono work undertaken under this Initiative throughout the firm's national footprint. Provide mentorship, support and supervision as needed in connection with pro bono matters undertaken under this Initiative. Work with other members of the Pro Bono team to highlight the work being done under this Initiative both internally and externally. Serve as a substantive resource to firm volunteers engaged in business pro bono matters undertaken under this Initiative, including conducting related training, compiling resource materials, and coordinating community outreach. Help prepare and analyze data regarding pro bono efforts undertaken under this Initiative. Report quarterly to Executive Board (and others) on development of this initiative and pro bono clients served. Represent the firm at conferences and industry events that intersect pro bono and racial injustice.
