Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Employment and Labor Law Associate for its Portsmouth, NH office. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to providing strategic legal solutions in employment and labor law, helping employers navigate complex workplace issues.

Duties

• Defend and litigate lawsuits involving a broad range of employment-related claims and agency charges of discrimination.
• Advise, counsel, and train employers on various employment and labor law issues.
• Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, at mediations, and in arbitration in employment matters, including class/collective actions and discrimination, harassment, retaliation, contract, employment tort, and non-compete cases.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school, with excellent academic credentials.
• 2+ years of experience, with a strong preference for an employment law background.
• Current NH bar admission or ability to obtain admission.
• Understanding of current agency (state and federal) procedures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New Hampshire Bar or eligibility to obtain admission.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in legal research and writing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
