A prominent law firm with a strong national platform is seeking an Associate or Counsel to join its Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice in Chicago. This position is tailored for an attorney with at least two years of experience in commercial foreclosure, creditor’s rights, and real estate litigation. The role centers on advising financial institutions, special servicers, and investment entities in matters involving complex commercial foreclosure and receivership litigation, with opportunities to broaden exposure into bankruptcy and single-asset real estate proceedings.

Duties
Advise clients on commercial foreclosure, creditor rights, and real estate litigation matters across asset classes (e.g., hospitality, multifamily, retail, office, industrial)
Manage all stages of the foreclosure process including title review, default notices, complaints, receivership motions, and sale documentation
Handle litigation for contested foreclosure actions, including court appearances, oral arguments, and discovery
Represent clients in lien priority, receivership, and fraudulent transfer disputes in both state and federal courts
Draft legal documents such as forbearance agreements and loan modifications
Contribute to matters involving commercial bankruptcy and single asset real estate cases, where applicable
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of commercial foreclosure and real estate litigation experience
Prior law firm experience is required
Familiarity or interest in commercial bankruptcy proceedings is preferred
Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently and meet deadlines
Excellent client service orientation and litigation acumen
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications
Active and good standing membership with the Illinois State Bar
