Provide legal counsel to clients on complex family law matters
Develop and execute effective litigation strategies
Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and court decisions
Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, separation agreements, deeds, and wills
Represent clients in court hearings, trials, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Build and maintain trusted client relationships through consistent communication
Consult with potential clients and assist in firm business development
Appear as first chair in court proceedings and hearings
Analyze evidence and case documents, including DSS reports and filed pleadings
Handle complex custody disputes, equitable distribution, and support matters
Meet firm-defined billable hour requirements
Minimum of 5 years of family law litigation experience
Significant first-chair trial experience
Recognized by legal industry organizations (e.g., Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Legal Elite)
Demonstrated experience handling high-stakes family law cases
Ability to work independently and mentor junior associates
Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to ethical representation
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Strong academic credentials preferred
Active license to practice law in North Carolina (required)
North Carolina Board Certification in Family Law (preferred)
Advanced litigation, trial advocacy, and courtroom presentation skills
Excellent legal research and analytical writing capabilities
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Ability to manage complex and emotionally sensitive cases with discretion
High-level problem-solving and case management skills
