Duties

  • Evaluate the patentability of new technologies and scientific innovations
  • Draft and file United States patent applications
  • Manage and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
  • Coordinate with foreign counsel on international patent prosecution matters
  • Support intellectual property due diligence projects and portfolio management initiatives
  • Conduct legal and technical research related to patent and intellectual property issues
  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and internal teams on intellectual property strategy
  • Serve as a liaison for cross-departmental initiatives and interact with outside counsel when necessary

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications in a law firm or corporate environment
  • Experience with patent matters related to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices
  • Strong scientific and technical background with the ability to analyze research and innovation for patentability
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Experience using patent research databases and scientific search tools

Education and Certifications

  • PhD in a life sciences discipline
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office or eligible to sit for the Patent Bar examination
