Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm is seeking a mid-level International Arbitration Associate to join its Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have experience in investment treaty arbitration and strong Spanish language skills. Experience in commercial arbitration is a plus. Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Handle complex international arbitration matters, with a focus on investment treaty arbitration.
  • Work on high-profile commercial arbitration cases (experience is a plus).
  • Conduct legal research and drafting of documents related to arbitration cases.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and tribunals.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel on arbitration proceedings.
  • Assist in the development and management of case strategy in both investment treaty and commercial arbitration matters.
  • Collaborate with team members and senior attorneys in case preparation and trial support.
  • Prepare pleadings, briefs, and other arbitration-related documents.

Requirements:

  • Experience in international arbitration, particularly investment treaty arbitration.
  • Fluency in Spanish (both written and verbal).
  • Experience in commercial arbitration is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional academic credentials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be admitted to the DC Bar or eligible to obtain admission promptly.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the DC Bar, or eligibility to obtain admission promptly.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Spanish, with the ability to draft and communicate in the language.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues with attention to detail.
  • Experience working on investment treaty arbitration cases.
  • Commercial arbitration experience is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team and work independently when necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
