Job Overview:

A prominent law firm in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a seasoned attorney with a focused background in data privacy to serve as an in-house subject matter authority. This role involves advising institutional clients on multifaceted privacy matters and supporting cross-disciplinary legal teams in navigating evolving privacy laws. The position also includes mentoring attorneys from other departments who are expanding their practice in the area of data privacy.

Duties:

• Provide strategic counsel on federal, state, and international data privacy regulations

• Lead client engagements on compliance matters involving privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA)

• Offer legal guidance related to cybersecurity incident response and risk mitigation

• Support due diligence and data governance for transactional and regulatory matters

• Train and mentor junior attorneys and team members on privacy laws and best practices

• Collaborate with professionals across disciplines, including IT, compliance, and litigation

• Stay abreast of legal developments and lead internal knowledge-sharing efforts

Requirements:

• Minimum of 6 years of focused legal experience in data privacy or related fields

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client matters across industries

• Background advising on or managing cybersecurity concerns preferred

• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

• Deep understanding of privacy laws and regulatory frameworks

• Proficiency in analyzing technical and legal documentation related to IT systems

• Leadership capabilities with experience mentoring legal professionals

• Strong written and oral advocacy and negotiation abilities

• Analytical thinking with strategic problem-solving skills
