Job Overview: A law firm based in Winston-Salem, NC, is seeking a highly qualified Patent Agent with a strong background in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience and be admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This position requires excellent academic credentials, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic legal team.

Duties:

• Conduct patent prosecution activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to understand invention disclosures and provide strategic advice on patent matters.
• Perform prior art searches and analyze technical literature to support patentability assessments.
• Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications related to chemical and organic chemistry technologies.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of in-house or law firm patent prosecution experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (B.S.) or Ph.D. in Chemistry/Organic Chemistry.
• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Excellent academic credentials.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (B.S.), or
• Ph.D. in Chemistry, or
• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.

Certifications:

• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
