Chief Financial Officer
The candidate will be advising Chief Operating Officer (COO), Managing Partners and Management Committee on setting and achieving financial objectives and provides insights on enhancing financial performance and business opportunities. Assuming leadership and development of the Accounting and Conflicts Department staffs, totaling 18. Functional departments include billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting and financial statement preparation, data analysis, records and conflicts, client fund accounts and payroll for US and UK operations. Overseeing monthly and annual financial statement preparation and variance analysis. Establishing and assuring compliance with internal accounting policies and controls to safeguard firm and client assets. Leading the annual budgeting and planning process. Leading, and refining as necessary, new business intake, records and conflicts and assure compliance. Prioritizing and coordinating implementation of financial system improvements, and supporting other department system projects as necessary. Leading the external audit and tax processes, assuring compliance (US and UK). Coordinating all treasury functions including establishing and maintaining banking relations, maintaining security protocols, sufficient liquidity and fee minimization. Overseeing and coordinating the annual professional insurance process, including liability, property and workers' compensation. Overseeing the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments. Managing special projects as required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; MBA preferred. Should have 10+ years of progressive financial experience with a proven track record of providing strategic direction, leadership and management of a finance organization. Experience leading Finance function in a law firm or professional services environment preferred. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with UK accounting and regulations is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with time and billing systems, knowledge of Thomson Reuters’ 3E software a plus. Experience building and developing teams.
