Job Overview A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Associate to join its team in Texas. This role involves handling litigation, legal research, contract drafting, and providing strategic legal counsel on employment-related matters. The ideal candidate will work on both individual and class action cases, offering guidance on wage compliance, employee rights, workplace policies, and employment contracts. This is a hybrid position based in Dallas or Austin, TX, with a mix of in-office and remote work flexibility.
Duties
Manage litigation cases involving employment disputes, including wage and hour claims, misclassification issues, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wrongful termination.
Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other court filings.
Provide legal counsel on employment laws and regulations at the state and federal levels.
Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance packages, and related contracts.
Advise clients on best practices regarding workplace policies, restrictive covenants, compensation structures, and employee mobility.
Support corporate transactions by conducting due diligence on employment aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
Assist with policy development and compliance training on workplace regulations, including leave policies under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Requirements
2-4 years of experience in employment law, including litigation, advisory services, and transactional work.
Proven ability to handle class action and single-plaintiff employment disputes.
Strong knowledge of federal and Texas state employment laws, including wage and hour regulations and anti-discrimination statutes.
Experience representing clients before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts.
Prior experience with AmLaw 100 firms is preferred but not required.
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications
Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.
