Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Houston, TX is actively seeking a driven and detail-oriented attorney with a strong foundation in technical or scientific disciplines to join its high-performing team focused on intellectual property litigation. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-stakes disputes, representing innovators in dynamic sectors. The ideal candidate will have prior experience navigating patent or trade secret litigation, coupled with a technical degree and a passion for advocacy in fast-paced legal environments.

Duties:

• Represent clients in intellectual property disputes, with an emphasis on patent and trade secret litigation

• Conduct in-depth legal research and draft persuasive pleadings, briefs, and memoranda

• Participate in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation

• Collaborate with technical experts and client stakeholders to translate complex subject matter into compelling legal arguments

• Analyze patents and technical documentation to support case strategy

• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal oversight

• Contribute to business development efforts and client service initiatives

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, including hands-on casework in patent and/or trade secret matters

• Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team-based projects

• Proven writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

• Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and time management

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Undergraduate or advanced degree preferred in one of the following disciplines (or a closely related field):

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Computer Science

  • Physics

  • Chemistry

  • Biochemistry

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar of Texas

Skills:

• Adaptability in high-pressure litigation environments

• Familiarity with proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and/or ITC is a plus
