Job Title: Intellectual Property Associate Attorney - Technical/ Engineering Focus
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Houston, TX is actively seeking a driven and detail-oriented attorney with a strong foundation in technical or scientific disciplines to join its high-performing team focused on intellectual property litigation. The ideal candidate will have prior experience navigating patent or trade secret litigation, coupled with a technical degree and a passion for advocacy in fast-paced legal environments.
Duties:
Represent clients in intellectual property disputes, with an emphasis on patent and trade secret litigation
Conduct in-depth legal research and draft persuasive pleadings, briefs, and memoranda
Participate in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
Collaborate with technical experts and client stakeholders to translate complex subject matter into compelling legal arguments
Analyze patents and technical documentation to support case strategy
Manage multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal oversight
Contribute to business development efforts and client service initiatives
Requirements:
2-4 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, including hands-on casework in patent and/or trade secret matters
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team-based projects
Proven writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and time management
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Undergraduate or advanced degree preferred in one of the following disciplines (or a closely related field):

Chemistry
Biochemistry

Mechanical Engineering
Certifications:
Active membership in the State Bar of Texas
