Remote Immigration Associate Attorney

Duties:
Deliver in-depth legal guidance on immigration pathways and procedures
Advocate for clients-both detained and non-detained—before Immigration Courts and administrative bodies
Oversee an active docket of immigration cases and maintain regular case progression
Conduct intake assessments at detention centers, as needed
Draft and file a wide variety of immigration petitions, with a focus on family-based and removal defense matters
Review client-submitted documents and ensure completeness and legal sufficiency
Liaise with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and community partners on immigration developments
Provide consultations to prospective clients and craft individualized legal strategies
Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS interviews
Assess legal eligibility and identify avenues for relief under immigration law
Compose legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation tailored to the case needs
Requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law
Licensed to practice law within Puerto Rico
Demonstrated ability to independently manage casework and deadlines
Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to collaboration and teamwork in a legal environment
Proficiency in legal software systems and document management tools is advantageous
Fluency in Spanish and English preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active Bar membership in Puerto Rico
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of immigration case types, including family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, and detained matters
Strong legal research and writing capabilities
Client counseling and public speaking skills
Strategic case planning and litigation preparation
Organizational and administrative efficiency
Job Location:
