HR Manager
The candidate drives the HR processes including recruiting, onboarding, performance and development, compliance, employee relations and benefits. Provides coaching, mentoring and guidance to staff as well as participates in special projects as needed. Works with relevant directors and/or managers to review and update job descriptions prior to posting. Works with HR Coordinator and/or HR Generalist to review, screen and track applicants. Oversees interview process with relevant leaders including drafting interview guides and consulting on candidate selection. Reviews results of background checks for all new hires. Oversees the HR Coordinator and/or HR Generalist in planning and executing onboarding process. Partners with directors and/or managers to ensure that goals and expectations are being set and that feedback is provided throughout the year. Facilitates the year end review process by collecting self-evaluations and feedback from the relevant leaders. In partnership with the Director of HR & Operations, facilitates the annual compensation review process for all professional staff below Director level. Promotes an “open door culture” and manages employee relations in consultation with the Director of HR & Operations. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations including the timely and accurate filing of EEO-1 and other required reporting. Ensures timely and accurate completion of HR related requests including background checks and employment verifications. Coordinates updating of the policy manuals in partnership with relevant leaders. Works with IT to ensure that HR intranet site and all relevant HR information is updated. Oversees coverage management of Legal Administrative Assistants, ensuring sufficient attorney support. Assists Director of HR & Operations on mentoring, coaching and developing of the HR Coordinator and Generalist. Plans and coordinates firm-wide events such as Administrative Professional’s Day, summer outing and long-service dinner. May be assigned additional projects including employee surveys, HR analytics and reporting. Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of experience in a HR generalist role is required. Experience in legal industry or professional services environment is preferred.
