The candidate will provides legal advice on health law matters for UAMS Medical Center (including matters involving the Patient Safety Act, 340B Drug Pricing Program, Healthcare Decisions Act, Peer Review Fairness Act). Works on UAMS policy development, serving as legal advisor to multiple hospital committees and departments, and training on various healthcare laws and regulations. May supervise a small administrative support staff by interviewing, recommending for hire, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Will have regular contact with UAMS personnel, UA System office, defendants and defendant attorneys, court officials, and other state agencies. Occasional contact with the general public to respond to legal questions is required. Must demonstrate maturity, sound judgment, a good work ethic and ability to work closely with the other members of the General Counsel’s office. J.D.Degree or equivalent degree, license to practice law in Arkansas, admission to practice in the State of Arkansas. Must have 5+ years of experience (subject to waiver for exceptionally relevant experience) in the private practice of law or with a corporation, governmental agency or similar organization. Experience working with academic medical centers, knowledge of the delivery of health care and the licensing of health care professions, knowledge of health care clients and a broad array of health care laws and regulations is preferred.
