A law firm seeks an accomplished attorney with 21 years of experience in construction and development agreements to join their team in Albany, New York. The successful candidate will manage high-value transactional matters, advise clients on risk allocation, and structure deals that advance project goals while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction and development contracts, including GC agreements, subcontracts, design-build, and EPC agreements.
  • Advise clients on project delivery methods, risk mitigation strategies, and contract administration.
  • Coordinate due diligence for acquisitions, financing, and joint ventures in real estate development.
  • Structure and document public-private partnership agreements and infrastructure projects.
  • Counsel on lien, bond, and insurance requirements; resolve disputes through negotiation or alternative dispute resolution.
  • Liaise with government authorities on permitting, zoning, and compliance matters.
  • Mentor junior associates on transactional best practices and industry standards.

Requirements

  • 21 years of experience in construction and real estate development transactions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating and structuring complex agreements.
  • Strong familiarity with AIA, ConsensusDocs, and other industry-standard forms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters and lead deal teams.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy, with a track record of client-focused service.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar; good standing in all jurisdictions of practice.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Real Estate, or related field preferred.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • LEED Green Associate or similar credential preferred but not required.

  • Deep understanding of construction law, project finance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency with contract management and e-discovery platforms.
  • Strategic negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
