Responsibilities: Review a variety of tax returns for multiple clients including: estate, trust, gift and private foundation tax returns. Review tax returns for high-net-worth individuals. Provide estate planning solutions to clients. Develop a relationship with and maintain contact with individual clients. Communicate directly with clients and serve as the primary point of contact. Be the in-charge accountant for specific clients. Identify issues with existing plans and offer alternative ideas. Develop relationships with clients and work with relationship partners. Work with attorneys to ensure clients’ wishes are followed as estate plans are created. Review prepared Form 706, Estate Tax Returns. Review prepared Form 709, Gift Tax Returns. Review prepared Form 1041, Fiduciary Income Tax Returns. Train staff on fiduciary income tax concepts/compliance requirements. Provide training to staff on the estate, trust and gift planning concepts/compliance requirements. Handle compliance and planning related to clients’ particular situations. Be cognizant of time budgets, but not allow time budgets to sacrifice the quality and/or efficiency. Proactively communicates with other staff on the status of projects and assistance needed. Able to tackle more complex accounting and/ or tax issues. Identify when research is needed; clearly and concisely frame issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely report the analysis. Identify complex issues to be researched by the engagement team and provides research methodology for an efficient research process. Train staff on research skills and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis. Involve firm specialists, as appropriate. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects. Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review comments. Train Associates and Seniors on how to use all current software tools. Act as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates. Schedule and manage the workload of associates and senior associates. Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.
