Commercial Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A leading international law firm is seeking a junior to mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Litigation and Dispute Resolution team in either San Francisco or Oakland. This role is ideal for attorneys with 2–5 years of complex litigation experience who are seeking exposure to high-stakes commercial disputes and insurance litigation. The position provides a dynamic environment where associates are key team members, working closely with partners and clients on sophisticated matters from pre-trial through appeal.

Location:

• San Francisco, CA

Duties:

• Manage all phases of litigation from case inception through trial and appeal

• Conduct legal research and draft detailed memoranda

• Draft complex case evaluations, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents

• Handle discovery processes, including document production, written discovery, and depositions

• Collaborate with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel

• Participate in trial preparation and strategic litigation planning

Requirements:

• 2–5 years of complex litigation experience (required)

• Exposure to commercial and/or insurance litigation (preferred)

• Direct experience managing cases, client relationships, and adversarial matters

• Familiarity with e-discovery tools and document management platforms

• Prior law firm experience strongly preferred

• Application must include a cover letter detailing litigation experience, resume, law school transcript, and at least one writing sample

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of California

• Must be in good standing with the California Bar
