Clyde & Co has an opportunity for a Practice Group Finance Administrator to join our team in Kansas City and report to our practice group leaders, working closely with our clients, attorneys within the group, legal assistants, finance and other business support teams.
Purpose of the Role
This is a newly created role for a trusted administrator that is embedded into the practice groups to help relief partners from day to day financial duties involved in operating a sophisticated legal practice. The role will focus on assisting two practice groups, one predominantly located in Atlanta, and another in New York. Working directly with attorneys, clients, and various business support teams the successful candidate will be tasked with improving the flow of information and the creation and implementation of processes that allow for a more efficient and organized cash conversion cycle that minimizes financial leakage.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that attorneys and staff follow firm policies related to client acceptance, timekeeping, billing and collection, expense reimbursement, and related financial policies;
Monitor and track attorney and paralegal time entry compliance with client and firm guidelines;
Work with the billing department and the practice group to ensure that monthly billing targets are met;
Coordinate with the firm’s clients on behalf of the practice group leader(s) on various financial matters;
Monitor the status of Work in Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) for the practice groups to ensure that aged items are appropriately escalated and addressed;
Work with the practice group leader(s) and reporting team on the development and monitoring of targeted financial and analytics reports that help identify ways to improve practice group performance;
Work with practice group leader(s) and collections team to assist with practice group collection efforts;
Coordinate financial meetings and internal communications among attorneys, paralegals and staff in support of the group’s financial initiatives;
Assist practice group leader(s) with training and implementation of best financial practices amongst attorneys and other timekeepers.
Skills, Abilities and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
Billing or similar experience preferable but not necessary;
Relevant work experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferable;
Proactive, good communicator, and team oriented;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel and Outlook).
