A respected law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Immigration Associate Attorney to join its growing immigration practice. Explain immigration law concepts and present strategic legal solutions to clients
Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Manage a caseload of immigration matters independently
Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
Review and adjust immigration application packets prepared by staff
Work collaboratively with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations on immigration law developments
Meet with potential clients for immigration consultations and determine case strategies
Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in court or before USCIS
Conduct legal analysis to identify potential case benefits
Prepare and submit legal briefs and other filings for a variety of immigration cases
0 to 3 years of immigration law experience
Ability to manage and move a caseload forward independently
Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-service skills
Team-oriented with a collaborative approach
Experience handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained matters, citizenship applications, and USCIS petitions
Familiarity with immigration case management software preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Strategic thinking and case planning ability
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High attention to detail
Ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts to clients
