Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and analytical Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Coverage team in Clarence, New York. This role focuses on advising clients regarding complex insurance coverage matters, assisting with insurance recovery strategies, and resolving coverage disputes through negotiation and litigation. Duties

• Evaluate and interpret a wide variety of insurance policies, including general liability, excess/umbrella, professional liability, cyber, pollution, property, and construction-related policies
• Analyze coverage issues and develop strategies to maximize insurance recoveries for policyholder clients
• Draft and review insurance-related agreements, including contractual indemnity and insurance provisions in commercial contracts
• Advise clients on coverage obligations, rights, and dispute resolution options
• Assist with negotiating settlements with insurance carriers and opposing parties
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and pleadings in coverage litigation
• Represent policyholder clients in insurance coverage lawsuits, arbitrations, and mediations
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop innovative and effective coverage solutions

Requirements

• 1 to 5 years of experience practicing law, with exposure to insurance coverage matters, litigation, or transactional work
• Experience advising clients on insurance policy interpretation or handling coverage disputes is a strong advantage
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex coverage scenarios and recommend tailored strategies
• Excellent written communication skills, particularly in drafting coverage opinions, legal memoranda, and litigation documents
• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively within a collaborative team environment

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the state of New York
