A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Bankruptcy Attorney to join its legal team in Greater Houston. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and experience representing creditors in bankruptcy matters in the Southern and Western districts of Texas. This role involves preparing and handling bankruptcy litigation.

Duties

• Counsel clients on bankruptcy options, primarily focused on Chapters 7 and 13.
• Prepare, review, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, motions, and related pleadings.
• Represent clients at hearings and bankruptcy court proceedings.
• Negotiate with debtors, trustees, and opposing counsel to reach favorable outcomes.
• Conduct legal research on bankruptcy statutes, case law, and regulatory changes.
• Manage a caseload efficiently while maintaining a high standard of client service.
• Collaborate with legal assistants and support staff to ensure accurate and timely case management.
• Stay current on bankruptcy law developments and best practices.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Texas.
• Experience in bankruptcy law (consumer or business) and litigation.
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and related procedural rules.
• Excellent research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases with strong attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal and client-communication skills.

Education

• Doctor of Law

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Texas

Skills

• Background in creditor-side representation, workouts, or commercial litigation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in financial analysis, including review of tax returns, financial statements, and liability structures.
