Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Trademark Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. This position requires a driven individual with up to three years of experience in trademark matters. The ideal candidate will focus on both domestic and international trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, with opportunities to engage in diverse aspects of trademark portfolio management and litigation.

Duties:

• Provide trademark search opinions and clearance for both U.S. and foreign trademarks

• Prepare and file trademark applications; respond to office actions

• Manage and advise on U.S. and foreign trademark portfolio matters, including renewals, maintenance, and ownership conveyances

• Collaborate with foreign counsel on trademark filings, office actions, and other prosecution issues

• Advise on and prepare documents for agreements and litigation matters

• Participate in oppositions, cancellations, and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings

• Conduct diligence reviews, domain watches, and trademark monitoring

• Perform legal research related to trademark issues

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience in trademark prosecution, including trademark filing and clearance

• Experience in preparing and responding to cease-and-desist letters and handling enforcement matters (preferred)

• Ability to collaborate effectively in team settings

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong interpersonal abilities and business acumen

• Interest in public speaking, writing articles, and engaging in marketing and business development activities

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admitted to or eligible for admission in Washington, DC (other state bar admissions such as Massachusetts or New York are a plus)
