Job Overview:

A respected law firm based in Woodland Hills, CA, is seeking a full-time Family Law Associate Attorney to join its growing legal team. This in-office role offers an engaging environment focused on complex family law matters. The ideal candidate will bring both compassion and strategic acumen to support clients through emotionally charged legal challenges, while managing cases with autonomy and contributing to team leadership.

Duties:

• Manage a broad range of family law cases from inception through resolution

• Draft pleadings, motions, declarations, and legal correspondence

• Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences

• Conduct legal research, review discovery, prepare depositions, and analyze evidence

• Lead the development of case strategies with oversight over legal support staff

• Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, manage expectations, and advise on legal paths

• Maintain accurate and timely records, billing entries, and internal reports

• Contribute to team development by mentoring junior staff and supporting cross-functional casework

Requirements:

• Minimum 4-5 years of experience handling family law matters

• Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar

• Demonstrated trial experience in family court (preferred)

• Prior experience leading or supervising legal support staff (preferred)

• Familiarity with case management systems and strong time management skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Skills:

• Excellent oral and written advocacy

• High emotional intelligence when handling sensitive family matters

• Ability to independently manage case deadlines and court appearances

• Strong legal research and analytical thinking

• Leadership in team-based legal environments

• Meticulous attention to legal procedures and detail-oriented case tracking
