Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property
Duties: Report directly to the VP Law, Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. Counsel business clients on various intellectual property-related issues. Preparation and prosecution of patent applications, typically in the mechanical or electro-mechanical arts. Manage a docket of invention disclosures and pending patent applications. Manage outside counsel on various issues including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, drafting of opinions, and litigation support. Provide opinions as to patentability, non-infringement, invalidity, right to use and other intellectual property-related topics. Negotiate intellectual property agreements such as confidentiality agreements, development agreements, and license agreements and support negotiation of intellectual property-related clauses in other types of agreements or terms. Collaborating with other in-house counsel supporting the business group(s). Collaborating with others in Parker’s Intellectual Property Practice Group to improve processes, create standard work for increased efficiency and develop, coordinate and conduct training for Parker team members. Lead and actively participate in Legal Department strategy deployment and continuous improvement initiatives. Positively represent and impact Parker and Legal Department culture and values.
