Compliance Manager
Duties: Provides division and/or department leadership, coordination and assistance on issues related to university compliance with rules and regulations related to the assigned program. Manages the operational, financial and personnel activities of the assigned program. Performs routine to complex assignments using existing procedures. Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, as necessary. Performs legal research and initial drafting of legal documents. Provides legal/compliance support services (e.g., audits and evaluates compliance programs to mitigate risk). Reviews compliance programs and compares against program procedures, rules and regulations. Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems. Develops and delivers education and training programs around compliance. Conducts compliance investigations. Impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team (e.g., reviews work and recommends legal/compliance improvements). Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines, noting when obstacles may impact outcomes. Exchanges information, asks questions, and checks for audience understanding. Explains information and conveys compliance requirements, ensuring university is compliant with rules and regulations. Develops working relationships with various internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed. Work with chairs of compliance committees as well as staff in OSP to ensure adherence to best practices. Communicate effectively with campus researchers to facilitate submission of appropriate documentation. Write procedures to guide local action to meet federal guidelines. Update policies and procedures as needed to maintain compliance. Prepare documentation for compliance audits. Develop and maintain expertise in OHRP 45 CFR 46 and other related federal guidelines. Attend professional training and seek appropriate certification.
