Duties:

• Handle legal matters related to construction disputes, including claims involving change orders, defective specifications, delay damages, lost productivity, acceleration, and extensions of time

• Prepare mechanics’ liens and initiate bond claims

• Draft and negotiate construction-related agreements and legal documentation

• Advise clients on construction compliance, insurance, and risk management

• Oversee litigation tasks, including depositions, motion practice, and court appearances

• Conduct thorough legal research and produce pleadings, memoranda, and discovery documents

• Interact with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses in a professional and responsive manner

• Maintain detailed records of billable time and ensure compliance with firm and client protocols

• Uphold client service standards through consistent communication and reliable follow-through

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in the State of Connecticut

• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in construction law or closely related litigation

• Federal court experience is advantageous

• Proven capability in managing written discovery, pretrial motions, depositions, and trial preparation

• Excellent legal writing and analytical skills with a high attention to accuracy

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Connecticut State Bar (mandatory)

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal communication and client management skills

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Strategic thinker with sound legal judgment

• Proficiency in timekeeping and case management systems
