Attorney III (Transactions)
Candidate will be providing legal advice to the Mayor’s Office, City department heads and administrative boards and staff. Work will include contract and transactional matters, pensions, tax, bond and other municipal finance issues. Will include the drafting of proposed legislation and coordinating with the City’s development agencies. Drafts and reviews legal documents such as contracts, ordinances, pleadings, settlement agreements, legal briefs, legal opinions, motions, and depositions. May provide legal advice and instruction to junior department staff. Provides legal counsel and opinion to other city department staff. Prepares for and tries cases: includes interviewing and deposing witnesses; handling depositions; conducting discovery; preparing pleadings, motions, stipulations, and other material connected with litigation. Performs legal research. Negotiates and recommends the payment of cash settlements or other dispositions. Performs other duties as assigned.
