A law firm based in New York City is seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation - Life Sciences Associate Attorney. The candidate will provide sophisticated legal advice to clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and other life sciences sectors.

 

Job Overview:

  • The candidate will offer advanced legal counsel to clients in the life sciences industry, addressing complex IP disputes, including patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, as well as Section 337 investigations.
  • Utilize advanced technical knowledge in life sciences to effectively represent innovators, patent holders, and brand owners in various legal forums, including federal courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), administrative proceedings, and arbitration/mediation.

 

Duties:

  • Provide sophisticated legal advice to clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and other life sciences sectors.
  • Handle complex IP disputes, including patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, as well as Section 337 investigations.
  • Draft specialized legal documents such as court actions and memoranda related to substantive law and procedures.
  • Consult with clients to analyze legal and business requirements and provide appropriate legal strategies.
  • Represent clients before federal, state, and local agencies and courts.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda and pleadings.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor of Law (JD) degree.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Biotechnology or another natural science field.
  • One month of experience in the job offered or as a Patent Prosecution & Trademarks Intern.
  • Background or experience in Intellectual Property (IP) Law, including exposure to substantive patent law cases.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and legal research skills.
  • Strong ability to write, review, and edit complex court pleadings, legal opinions, and correspondence.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor of Law (JD) degree.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Biotechnology or another natural science field.

 

Skills:

  • Advanced technical knowledge in life sciences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong legal research skills.
  • Ability to write, review, and edit complex legal documents effectively.
