Duties

• Research and analyze legal issues
• Draft memoranda and motions
• Argue motions in state and federal court
• Conduct discovery and depositions
• Assist in trial preparation and participate in trials
• Participate in mediation
• Negotiate and draft settlement agreements
• Manage assigned cases with supervision
• Provide legal counsel to clients
• Meet with municipal clients
• Report case status to supervising attorneys and clients

Requirements

• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines
• Sound judgment in advising governmental clients
• Effective communication with clients, courts, and the public
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
• Licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas

Skills

• Experience in litigation, including discovery and dispositive motions
• Familiarity with governmental immunity, local government proceedings, and employment law
