A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney to join their team remotely, based in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in immigration law and a passion for serving immigrants.

Duties

  • Conduct legal consultations and assess case eligibility and risks.
  • Develop and oversee legal strategies for affirmative and defensive cases.
  • Draft and finalize motions, briefs, waivers, and legal memoranda.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Represent clients in immigration court for asylum and cancellation of removal cases.
  • Review and approve paralegal work to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct legal and factual research, including monitoring policy changes.
  • Collaborate with the Case Manager and administrative team to ensure case efficiency.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding legal strategy and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state.
  • Minimum 4 years of immigration law experience.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, asylum, and waivers.
  • Proven ability to draft legal documents and represent clients in hearings.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior legal staff.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple cases.
  • Spanish proficiency preferred.
  • Willingness to travel for court appearances.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar license in any U.S. state.

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and research skills.
  • Strong analytical and case strategy development abilities.
  • Effective communication and client relationship management.
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred.
