The candidate enforces the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (815 ILCS 505/1 et. seq). Carries out its mandate by conducting investigations and, when appropriate, filing enforcement actions in state or federal court to stop fraudulent, unfair or deceptive practices. Periodically collaborates with other government and law enforcement agencies, attorneys and advocacy groups on public policy and other matters of law as it pertains to consumer protection. Drafts legislation and rules, and participates in events to educate the community on emerging consumer problems and issues. Researches and investigates privacy, technology, and data security related issues and brings enforcement actions where appropriate. Provides internal support to the Office and Chief Privacy Officer concerning the development and implementation of privacy and data security measures to protect the sensitive information the Office of the Attorney General receives and maintains.
