Job Overview:
A Los Angeles-based law firm is seeking an experienced and bilingual Immigration Intake Attorney to serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients. This position involves supervising the intake team, assessing client matters during consultations, and providing strategic legal guidance. Ideal candidates will bring strong experience in immigration law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of client interactions. The role offers direct involvement with the legal intake process, client development, and internal team collaboration to support case evaluation and initiation.

Duties:

  • Conduct in-depth consultations with potential clients to assess eligibility and determine legal strategy

  • Oversee intake personnel and review documentation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of scope agreements and questionnaires

  • Collaborate with the intake review team by providing key facts and observations necessary for case acceptance decisions

  • Evaluate and assign new client matters within the legal intake system

  • Support talent acquisition initiatives for intake and administrative legal roles

  • Clearly explain immigration processes and case options to prospective clients and internal staff

  • Present a broad range of immigration solutions, including removal defense and family-based petitions

  • Occasionally review immigration filings for quality and strategic consistency

  • Assist in client and witness preparation for hearings or USCIS interviews as needed

  • Conduct legal research and provide assessments to identify any additional relief or benefits

  • Draft and edit legal memoranda or briefs supporting various immigration case types

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in immigration law

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish

  • Strong interpersonal and client communication abilities

  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred

  • Exposure to or interest in sales or client development is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to move cases forward efficiently and manage concurrent matters

  • Proficiency in handling various case types such as family petitions, humanitarian relief, removal defense, and citizenship matters

  • Familiarity with legal practice management software is advantageous

  • Capable of escalating case-related concerns and offering actionable recommendations to leadership

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications:

  • Admission to a State Bar in good standing (required)

Skills:

  • Strong legal analytical and research skills

  • Clear, persuasive oral and written communication

  • Client-centered consultation techniques

  • Team leadership and process oversight

  • Cultural competence and empathy in client interactions

  • Multitasking and time management across client-facing responsibilities
