Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Maryland area is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate to join its complex civil litigation team. This is a rare opportunity to gain immediate and significant litigation experience in a fast-paced, sophisticated practice. The firm handles complex civil cases including civil rights, class actions, commercial litigation, sexual abuse, and Title IX matters. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Plaintiff's work, victim's rights, and access to justice, along with 2-5 years of complex civil litigation experience.

Location:
Greenbelt, MD

Duties:

• Manage and oversee day-to-day operations of complex civil litigation cases.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis.
• Handle case intake and evaluation processes.
• Manage and execute all aspects of discovery.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend settlement conferences and engage in settlement discussions.
• Perform trial work in Maryland state and federal courts.
• Handle appeals in both Maryland state and federal courts.
• Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, law clerks, and senior mentors to support case management.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of experience in complex civil litigation, with a focus on Maryland courts.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage cases and juggle multiple matters simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A strong work ethic with a commitment to high-quality legal work.
• Must be a member in good standing of the Maryland Bar; DC Bar membership is a plus.
• Prior judicial clerkship experience preferred but not mandatory.

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Maryland Bar (required).
• DC Bar membership is a plus.

• Expertise in civil litigation, including complex commercial, civil rights, and Title IX cases.
• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Proven ability to manage litigation cases independently.
